My Top 5 News Sources!

In today's day and age, there are a variety of news sources that are widely accessible. However, it may be difficult to distinguish the real differences between these news sources based on their coverage, credibility, and overall agendas. However, I grew to develop a simple system of my own preferred news sources that fit my own needs and overall lifestyle.

1. CNN

My first news source is CNN as someone who is constantly busy and needs access to quick information CNN is an excellent choice for clear and concise summaries of news delivery. I also enjoy the variety of news coverage that CNN offers since it tends to overlap with my other sources of news and general interests. As a matter of fact, CNN has always been an integral part of my daily routine since I remember going to school and watching CNN together as a class and then discussing current events and analyzing them even further. There are many aspects that make this news source accessible and enjoyable such as the balance it keeps on professionally delivering news and breaking the tension, at appropriate times, to keep the audience engaged overall making it a pleasant experience. As you can see CNN appeals to a wide variety of audiences and packages the information in a way that seems digestible. However, like all news sources, they are not perfect certain biases may appear in certain points of view that not everyone may agree with but I think it's important to be informed and have an open mind when it comes to the details to have a greater picture of the situation.

2. YouTube

My second news source of choice is YouTube.
An excellent platform that allows you to customize the type of content that you consume. YouTube is very versatile in regards to the way you use the platform. As many of us are familiar with you can pick and choose what videos to watch and what channels to subscribe to in order to receive that content. One may describe YouTube as a "sea of information" as it is one of the largest search engines to this day. YouTube contains a different type of content in which news and current events are a big part of it. We constantly see breaking news appear in the trending section of YouTube and many "content creators" are first to respond with their perspective and takes on the matter. However, you can now find major news networks such as Fox News and CNN among many others that deliver videos based on their coverage. YouTube is a versatile tool indeed, serving its viewers with curated content. In my case, I like listening to and watching video podcasts, especially in the Tech space to be up to date on the most recent occurrence. I think at this point many people have made watching content on YouTube to be informed a part of their routine and it's a good recommendation overall.

3. Twitter

Twitter has been a popular choice when it comes to checking the news and reading what others have to say about it. Since Twitter is a social media platform many of its nuances depend on the structure of the platform, how they present the news, and how it surfaces to the users. Twitter has been a recent "go-to" for me since it's easy to access and you can go to the News or Trending tab to see current events and get the overall sentiment of what others are saying about the news. It is also important to know that, like YouTube and other social media platforms, major news networks also have their own accounts which obviously share live updates in regards to the news that they cover. A good option open to anyone who wants to get the latest news on the go.

4. Fox News

Fox News is another well-known news source and a major network that covers a variety of interesting topics as well as the latest headlines. I tend to find Fox News to be readily accessible and structures its content similarly to other traditional new sources. Based on the content on their platform as well as the expansion of this network on other platforms such as being on social media it’s pretty difficult to not be informed especially in today's society and I think that being accessible in other mediums is an excellent way to share information. Fox News in general provides another perspective when it comes to delivering news, again whether you agree with the general perspective of any news anchor or not, it is always good to know all the sentiments around the news.

5. The Daily Show

The Daily Show is a self-labeled satirical late-night news show in which the host breaks down the most recent news headlines and gives a quick overview including some witty comments as they deliver the new integrating some humor in the message. As you can see, this is not your traditional news source but I do think it's important to just step back from all the seriousness of the news and enjoy some quick laughs while receiving a synopsis of important news headlines. However, I do recommend visiting more reliable news sources to get a thorough explanation of the event in order to understand all the details. To recap, this is a generally light-hearted show that has recently been growing in popularity due to the notable differences of other structured news shows.
